The first ever Mount Isarog Eco-Tourism Endurance Challenge last June 15 saw challengers running and biking through the natural forest parks in Camarines Sur, Bicol. The challenge which combined trail biking and trail running, incorporated a pili planting activity at the foothills of Mt. Isarog, which is known for its rich biodiversity, to mark World Environment Day.
The first 20 km of the race covered the bike route or trail passing through Pili Park; SM CBD II, Naga City- Panganiban Drive, Rotunda Magsaysay Avenue, Matiway, San Felipe, Almeda Property, Madrigal Subdivision, Avida Rotonda, Haciendas de Naga, Rotonda-Pacol Main road, Naga View Adventist College and Panicuason, Naga City.
After completing the first part of the trail, the challengers parked their bikes at the Naga View College Campus in Panicuason and proceeded to the Pili Farm to plant one pili seedling in a pre-dug hole.
The last phase of the competition was a 5-km trail run from PUC school campus to Panicuason Hot Springs, and back to the finish line at the PUC school main campus.
Finishers celebrated with a boodle fight during a short program, while folk games were held for kids at the school.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the event! Here are some photo highlights.
